We're seeking an exceptional Developer Relations Engineer / Hacker-in-Residence to distill signal from customers, developers, and the open-source community (Hugging Face, X, Discord) into applications that drive adoption of our models. You'll turn frontier model capabilities into compelling, commercially-relevant building blocks that developers actually want to try. The role sits at the intersection of applied engineering, product, and community, shipping multi-modal projects under real-world constraints, while feeding field insights back into our research and product.
The Opportunity
In this role, you'll own the end-to-end loop between our models and the developers building with them. You will join customer conversations to keep a pulse on what's needed, and you'll partner across research, product, and GTM to translate that signal into code, content, and community engagement. You will shape how enterprises and developers build with Perceptron.
Your work will span:
- Prototyping: Push the limits of our models by building demos that are commercially interesting, technically credible, and excite the developer community. Your primary mandate is not to build production-grade systems — it's to find the highest-value applications of our capabilities and prove them out fast.
- Product-to-Research Feedback Loop: Surface model gaps you discover while building, and translate them into structured feedback for product and research teams. Your hands-on building gives you a unique vantage point that shapes the model roadmap.
- Community Engagement: Own ongoing engagement with the developer community across Hugging Face, X, Discord, and other surfaces where developers gather. Respond to questions, amplify community work, and represent Perceptron in conversations that matter.
- Content & Storytelling: Write technical posts, threads, and walkthroughs that make developers want to try our models — clear, credible, and grounded in real building, not marketing copy.
- Launch Execution: Drive several aspects of model launch execution — building hero demos, technical content, and reference implementations that anchor each release and show developers what's possible.
What You'll Bring
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics or equivalent practical experience
- Strong programming ability with production experience in Python, and comfort building demos end-to-end across frontend, backend, and model integration layers
- A nose for what's commercially interesting — the judgment to identify which model capabilities translate into real customer and developer value
- Demonstrated ability to take an idea from prompt → demo → published artifact quickly, without heavy process or production polish
- Strong written communication; can produce technical content (posts, threads, docs) that developers actually want to read
- Strong execution and ownership mindset; comfortable operating in ambiguous environments where requirements evolve rapidly.
Ideal Candidates Will Also Have
- Active presence in developer communities (Hugging Face, X, Discord, GitHub) — either as a creator, contributor, or trusted voice
- Experience building demos or applications with LLMs, multimodal models, or vision-language systems
- Track record of technical content that drove adoption — posts, demos, or open-source projects with measurable community traction
